“Questioning Bonuses at the IRS
“While serving as commissioner of the IRS office responsible for tax-exempt organizations, Sarah Hall Ingram was paid bonuses of $26,550 to $35,400 in fiscal years 2010, 2011, and 2012. Each of these bonuses equals 15 to 20% of her annual salary. We already know that the IRS was targeting organizations based on their political beliefs throughout those years. The timing and size of these bonuses raise questions about why they were awarded and which other IRS employees may have received similar compensation.
“On Tuesday, I sent a letter to Acting IRS Commissioner Daniel Werfel requesting a record of any annual bonuses above $10,000 paid to IRS employees….”
